Planned ACA Designation of Mountjoy Square

Thursday, 15th March, 2012 from 4:30 PM

We have received notice of Dublin City Counci's plans to designate Mountjoy Square as an Architectural Conservation Area – something that the society has been seeking for a numbe of years. On this Thursday (15th March) at 4:30pm, planners from Dublin City Council will outline the planned ACA designation at an information meeting in 25 Mountjoy Square – if you would like to know more about the ACA, please do come along. This is an important meeting as it will be an opportunity for the Council to set out its plans for the ACA and for the community and heritage groups to contribute our views.

The draft ACA documents are available on the DCC website as well as below on this page and all submissions and observations on the ACA are invited by 21st March 2012. If you are interested in the future of Mountjoy Square we would encourage you to read the DCC proposal for the ACA and make a submission to the Council. In particular it is important that the Council should up its game in the public areas over which it has control – most notably the Mountjoy Square Park, which urgently needs a proper conservation and management plan if the area is to be lifted.
